In the public eye The annual Keukenhof exhibition in The Netherlands is attended by visitors from all corners of the globe, eager to see the world's most spectacular flower bulb gardens.
But Keukenhof isn't only about tulips and daffodils. Its glasshouses are also used to showcase the best of many other types of plant which are naturally later blooming but forced into flower for the show.
Just one of the Astilbe displays at Keukenhof 2006.
The glasshouse was lit with a number of colourful Astilbe displays in 2006, and guess what, they were all varieties that Harrie has bred!
In the trade The CNB is an agency which puts breeders and growers in touch with organisations around the world wich trade in plants.
Every year they have an open day with lectures and an exhibition of plants (old and new) which are given awards for performance and suitability for offering to the trade.
Harrie's Astilbes create a riot of colour at the CNB exhibition
At the 2006 open day, Harrie's Astilbes took up the entire central isle in the exhibition hall - a indication of how highly the trade regard these varieties.
